About Us
KuzeyDoğa Association is a non-governmental organization established in Kars in January 2008 as a product of the Kars-Iğdır Biological Diversity Project initiated by Associate Prof. Dr. Çağan H. Şekercioğlu in 2003.
The vision of the association is a world where the extinction of living things is stopped and the collapse of natural cycles is prevented, and where human beings are benefited from the protection of nature as much as all other species.
Within the scope of the Kars – Iğdır Biodiversity Project, KuzeyDoğa Association has been active in many fields such as studies on migrating birds, wetland restoration, nature tourism studies, ethnobotany research, research on large carnivores and plant drawing trainings.
KuzeyDoğa Association conducts scientific studies in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems for the discovery and effective protection of biological diversity. It uses the data it obtains for nature conservation studies in a way that will be beneficial to the society. These conservation studies, which are based on the conduct of the human-wildlife relationship, aim to increase the awareness and effectiveness of all members of the society, starting with the local people.
It is an Accredited Non-Governmental Organization of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
